Robert “Bob” A. Hantke Sr.,80, of Janesville passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Janesville on August 21, 1930 , the son of Herbert and Esther (Hackbarth) Hantke. He married Betty Klementz on October 2, 1954 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. Bob was employed at the Janesville Post Office for 38 years retiring as a supervisor. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church where he was a member of its first confirmation class. Surviving are his wife, Betty Hantke, 4 children, Robert (Deb) Hantke Jr., Susan (Robert) Beran, Sandra Hantke all of Janesville, William Hantke of Orfordville, 8 grandchildren, Heather (Chris) Jones, Timothy Hantke, Andrew (finacee-Michelle Welton) Beran, Grant Beran, Bronwyn (finace-Michael Campeau) Beran, Abigail Hantke, Amy Hantke, Alissa Hantke, 4 great-grandchildren, Jackson Hantke, Caelainn Jones, Brennen Jones, Alainna Jones, 1 brother, Ralph Hantke of Madison, 1 sister, Ruth Hantke of Janesville. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by 1 brother, Richard Hantke. “A special thank you to the HospiceCare staff, Pastor Cory Rajek and Sister Jan Thurner for their loving care of Bob and their support to the family.” A visitation will be held from 5:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2011 followed by a memorial service at 6 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 2940 Mineral Point Avenue, Janesville. Pastor Cory Rajek will officiate. Private interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date.
